Feijoas roll down the roof
to be pecked by the birds
startling the rats
which scurry above.
A grimy workbench
dusty with tools
next to a soggy, wet lead
chewed through by sharp teeth
and soaked with mud.
On a wine rack, stacks
of colourful weights
wait with the skipping ropes
in tangled heaps.
The kayaks shadow
over the skis
waxed up and ironed
but nowhere near clean.
The rafts are in stacks
with coolers and rugs
and an icon which smiles
as if it’s on drugs.
The freezer vibrates
in tune to the car
left charging overnight.
