The baby’s finally asleep.
The father is home from work.
I haven’t been alone in days.
This is it….

“She’s asleep”…”I’m just off for a bike ride” She walks hastily for the door.
Startled look from father “Oh ok, yeah go for it!”

Helmet’s on, lights are flashing
Ahhh the breeze on my face,
The smell of mown lawns,
A separated cycleway…oooh nice!

Ahhh freedom. I’m smiling ear to ear….

Whoosh it’s been ten minutes.
The invisible string tightens.
I miss my baby, I need sleep.
Just one kilometre will do, time for home.

Next time I’ll get further.
