Heather McQuillan


Heather McQuillan is Director The School for Young Writers in Christchurch. She is an experienced teacher and has a Masters of Creative Writing . Among Heather’s short and short-short story writing awards are nominations for Pushcart Prize 2015 and 2017, winner in The Best Small Fictions 2017, first place in both the NZ Flash Fiction Day and Micro Madness competitions 2016, and third place in The Sunday Star Times Short Story Competition, 2016. Her flash fiction stories appear in print in and online. Heather also writes for children and in 2005 was the winner of the Tom Fitzgibbon Award, and two of her novels for young readers have been listed as Storylines Notable Books.
